Our Family Heritage

When we think about our Heritage, we think about traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. We see the material things that have been left behind for us that our Grandparents and Parents worked so hard for. We remanence about what our grandparents taught and told us from their time growing up.

Quilting is that Heritage for me. As the owner of A Leap of Faith Quilting Shop, I am continuing the heritage that my Mammie Ollie and her grandmothers before her have left behind. The art of quilting has been in my family for years, and my love for quilting grows deeper and deeper every day.

Many days were spent as a child watching and learning from Mammie Ollie while she hand pieced quilts together. As the years went on, my Momma and I would continue these quilting days together. I would always have to cut her quilt pieces out for her, and then we got to enjoy her hand pieced quilts when she was finished.

Although they are both gone on to be with the Lord, I am continuing to quilt daily with my daughters and grandchildren.

Mammie Ollie instilled the love for quilting in me, and now I am Blessed to share the same love for quilting with my Children and Grandchildren. I can see this wonderful Heritage being passed down to future generations as the years go by.

So, when you stop by the Quilt Shop to talk, browse, or just need a little bit of fellowship with other quilters, I hope you see the legacy that my Mammie Ollie instilled in me throughout my shop. You may even see my daughters working by my side to keep this tradition alive. If you look close enough, you may also see a few of the younger generation running around the shop as well!
